Proper training must be provided to each technician and separate
training for each type of lift including watching the video "Lift
Responsibly" and taking a quiz to test your knowledge of the
information provided on the video.
Provide documentation that each employee has been trained, signed by the
employer or lift trainer and the trainee (employee).
Display operating procedures, safety tips, and warning labels on the
lift and maintain access and readability.
Follow required daily inspections and proper operation of arm
restraints, locking devices, shut off devices for over travel, lift
controls, drive chains, wire rope(cables), hoses, wiring,
hydraulic leaks, pneumatic leaks, floor defamation or cracks, anchors,
metal filings, debris or rust in column, all structural lift components,
unusual or erratic operation and noises that are not common to normal
operation.
Set a periodic maintenance plan per manufacturer and provide
documentation.
Set a periodic lift repair plan and provide documentation of repairs.
At least once a year a qualified lift inspector must perform an
inspection per lift manufacturer’s recommendations in order to insure
reliability and safe operation of the lift. Certain sections of U.S.
code, Title 29 section 1910 and applicable subparts of the Occupational
Safety and Health Administration.
Ensure that no modifications are made to the lift if any manner without
prior written consent from the manufacturer.
Operator Responsibility
The operator must report to his supervisor, any
items found before, during or after the daily inspection and or use of
the lift, that results in a condition that requires the lift to be
locked and tagged out per ANSI ALIOM:2008.
The operator should not
use the lift without proper training.
The operator must operate the lift utilizing all safety features per
manufacturer’s instruction.
It is the responsibility of the operator to maintain his area in a clean
and orderly way such that no obstructions or safety hazards are created,
to include the cleanliness of the lift in such that the operation and
safe use of the lift are not jeopardized.
The operator will become familiar with vehicle lift points as shown in
service manuals or manufacturer’s instructions. If no manuals are
available, contact AETI.
The operator will only use accessories manufactured in compliance with
and be certified and/or listed for the specific lift it is intended for.
